M. Eshwariah

A profile on Late Shri M. Eshwariah (1940-2003):
Introspective, inspired, innovative, self-effacing, generous, original... these are a few ways of defining the Late Sri M. Eshwariah. He has lived a life dedicated to the muse of art and quitely passed on higher creative realms.

He started his career in 1964. Over the years he explored various art forms like painting (which remained his greatest passion till the very end), sculpture, typography, etching, carving and created some fascinating objects d'art.

Exhibitions/ Workshops/ Camps:
1. Participated in National and State Annual Art Exhibitions at New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Raipur, Calcutta and Hyderabad.
2. Attended as invitee for a graphic exhibition at Hyderabad with Federal Republic of Germany, 1975.
3. The Poster Workshop held at Chennai with U.K. Artist in 1981
4. Artist Camp at Trichure 1983.
5. Also attended for artists camps at Lepakshi, Humpi, Warangal and Srisailam.
6. Worked as General Council Member of A.P. Lalit Kala Akademi,
7. Worked as A.P. Council of Artist, Hyderabad
8. Worked as Hon'ble Secretary of Hyderabad Art Society, Hyderabad.
9. Been as a Jury for
• Art Exhibition 1980, organized by Hyderabad Art Society
• 3rd All India Contemporary Miniature –Biennale on Folk Concept, organized by Andhra Pradesh Council of Artists during 1980.
• 49th All India Art Exhibition 1990, organized by Hyderabad Art Society

Awards:
1. Won 1st Prize in Emblem Competition of Govt. College of Fine & Architecture, Hyderabad, 1964.
2. A.P. Lalit Kala Academy Awards in 1971, 1972.
3. Gold Medal for painting 1980
4. Gold Medal for Sculpture 1983.
5. Bharat Kala Parishad Hyderabad Award in 1972.
6. First Prize in Painting from the Exhbition of BHEL, Hyderabad in 1973.
7. A.P. Council of Artists Three Decades of Artist (Painting) in 1975
8. Miniature Binnale (Sculpture) 1982.
9. Hyderabad Art Society Awards for painting in 1976 and 1977.

Collections: A.P. Lalit Kala Academy, Salarjung Museum, State Museum of Hyderabad. Telugu Museum of World Telugu Conference, Central Lalit Kala Acdemy, A.P. Police Academy, Amberpet and in many private collections.

Recent Works: At the age of 60 years, he learned computers and did Digital Paintings using various Graphic softwares.

Last Work: During his last days he drew a graphic of “Lord Shiva” and on asking about the missing Third Eye, the artist said “It is Me!” “It is You!”. On the Day 29th December, 2003 the Artist took his last breath.
